All "relevant people" including current FIFA president Sepp Blatter could be interrogated, Swiss Attorney-General Michael Lauber said at at a press conference in Bern on Wednesday. Ten people have already been interviewed by authorities but the "world of football needs to be patient" as the investigation could take "months" or even "years" to complete, he added. (1 Sep 2016) Swiss authorities on Thursday launched a criminal investigation against German football great Franz Beckenbauer in a World Cup fraud case. Beckenbauer's home in Austria was raided for evidence on behalf of Swiss federal prosecutors investigating corruption linked to FIFA. Andre Marty, Spokesman for Swiss Attorney General, said 50 officials were involved in the house searches, and that people involved could face charges of up to five years in prison. Although he is still at the top of FIFA, Sepp Blatter is now the subject of a criminal investigation in Switzerland. The Swiss attorney general's office announced on Friday that Blatter is suspect of committing criminal mismanagement and misappropriations of funds while heading soccer's governing body. Credit Suisse is up against a $10 billion lawsuit from New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman over its alleged role in the sale of fraudulent mortgage-backed securities in the years leading up to the financial crisis, but says it will fight the case, according to a Reuters report. The investment bank said on Monday that it will fight the case. Other banks have been sued for fraud involving mortgage-backed securities, including JPMorgan Chase, which agreed to a $13 billion settlement with the Department of Justice last year. Some $613 million of that settlement went to New York State.
